Crib Care

We’re proud to partner with Friends in Deed to provide cribs for Washtenaw County’s babies! Learn more about Friends in Deed.

Our CribCare Program provides safe, new cribs to families, while fostering good parenting skills through education.

Expecting parents who face financial difficulties simply attend a short series of classes – including safe infant sleep training and newborn parenting skills – and in return, receive a brand new crib and mattress (or bassinet).

When parents are facing an unexpected pregnancy, lack of material support can be a huge factor in decision-making. We can really make a difference for parents by helping to provide cribs, which are very difficult for many of the families we serve to afford.

Not only that, we can help instill confidence in new parents by providing the education and training they need to be a little better prepared for the most important role of their lives: “Mom” or “Dad.”

In 2010 in Washtenaw County alone, six infants lost their lives due to unsafe sleeping conditions. It’s not unusual for babies to sleep on couches, chairs, pillows, or in car seats or laundry baskets when no crib is available. Help insure that babies sleep safe by donating to our CribCare Program! Your gift will go toward the purchase of a new crib, crib mattress, bassinet, or other sleep-related equipment which will bless a newborn baby in need.

Due to new federal safety regulations, we no longer accept any used items, including cribs.

Baby Care

We’re proud to partner with Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti to provide diapers, food, formula, layettes and more to Washtenaw County babies! Learn more about Hope Clinic.

As every parent knows, providing for the astonishing development of a newborn from infant, to baby, to toddler can be a financial challenge! The daily diaper change alone costs over $2,000 per child. That’s why we need to be there every month to provide needed formula, baby food, diapers, wipes and more for families who are struggling financially.

Through our BabyCare Program, we also provide free layettes to expectant mothers. A layette is a bag that’s chock full of infant necessities, from infant clothing, to baby bottles and pacifiers, to homemade baby blankets, caps, socks, and personal care items.

Able to help with the loving assembly of layettes?
Volunteers are needed to help assemble layettes at Hope Clinic. Anyone interested in helping out should call Melissa at Hope Clinic: (734) 484-2989.

Love to sew?
We accept hand-sewn receiving blankets – a real favorite that makes mom & baby feel cared for in a special way! Call ArborVitae for blanket specifications: (734) 994-8863.
